Two-year-old David Kalunga Flynn died following a routine circumcision at Gosnells Medical Clinic in Perth in December 2021. The coroner ruled that he died of a morphine overdose, one that was “preventable” with proper monitoring ABC. Representing the Flynn family, Perth-based personal injury lawyer Noor Blumer called the outcome “devastating,” emphasising how such a tragedy might have been avoided with stronger safeguards.

“David was a much-loved child taken from his family in devastating circumstances.”

“The coroner found David died of a morphine overdose, which could have been avoided.”

She added, “We must ensure that no other family goes through what this one has endured.” Dr Raad Hassan has been referred to WA’s health practitioner regulator; he continues to practice but no longer performs circumcisions or holds morphine privileges.
