Michael has over 12 years’ experience assisting injured people access justice in personal injury matters in Western Australia.
That experience includes Workplace Accident (workers compensation), Motor Vehicle Accident, Public liability.
He has achieved successful outcomes for his clients in hearings and trials at WorkCover WA, the District Court of Western Australia and the federal Administrative Review Tribunal (A.R.T.)
Over the years Michael has developed a speciality in Workers Compensation claims in Western Australia. He has a particular interest in psychiatric injury cases and matters where the insurer has disputed liability.
“Too often injured workers assume that their employer’s insurer will look after them and do the right thing. People understandably feel daunted by the process and sometimes avoid obtaining advice for fear of creating a dispute with their employer. It’s in those situations where we often see people obtain less than desirable outcomes. It’s important to obtain advice as soon as possible so you know what is available to you and how your claim should be managed. I’m motivated by ensuring that injured people obtain the benefits of the workers compensation system and get the best possible outcome in a particularly trying time.”
Michael’s advocacy for injured people is not limited to his work representing individuals, he is also a committee member of the Australian Lawyers Alliance in Western Australia. He serves on the Human Rights Act for Western Australia (HRA4WA) steering committee and recently joined the National Workers Compensation and Comcare Special Interest Group for the national Australian Lawyers Alliance.
When he isn’t working as a lawyer Michael aims to live an epicurean life and relax as much as possible.
He likes to travel, eat exotic food, swim at the beach, play records at home, watch the Fremantle Dockers sometimes win, and watch as many films as he can.
In his spare time Michael is learning Italian but is not confident enough to list it as a second language just yet.
